People and Corporate Support
The People and Corporate Support Branch provides expert and strategic advice in developing the Department's human resource management policies and strategies and is responsible for employee conduct, reviews of actions, salary and allowance administration including processing of pay, processing of leave, higher duties, compensation, recruitment and selection. It is also responsible for the development, implementation, integration of and support of the Department's human resource information systems.
The Branch also manages all aspects of employee development including people development, internal training programs, the graduate program, traineeships, summer clerks, induction, performance management, employee conduct, reviews of actions and internal awards.
The Branch also includes the following sections:
- Information and Document Management
The Information and Document Management (IDM) Section is responsible for managing the records and information assets of the department, both electronic and paper-based. The Section manages the collection, storage, access, use and disposal of records and information to support the Department's business processes and to meet statutory obligations of Commonwealth agencies.
IDM also manages the corporate recordkeeping system, EDMS/TRIM, providing generic and customised training sessions and enhancing it to facilitate recordkeeping in the department.
- Library Services
The Lionel Murphy Library aims to meet the information needs of the Department and support its function as a leader in providing public sector legal services. It maintains a comprehensive collection of law and related materials, as well as selected works in other subject areas that are of interest to the Department. Access to the collection is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to all Departmental staff with a security pass to RGO. Staff located in other Canberra or interstate offices can have material delivered by internal or external mail systems, and electronically when possible.

- Reference and research enquiries
- Desktop access to Library catalogue, databases, Australian and overseas journals, texts, looseleaf services, legislation, law reports and Government publications
- AGIS - An indexing and abstracting service of journal articles
- Training in the use of the Internet and electronic databases
- Library tours and orientation sessions
- Newspapers reading area
- Inter-Library loans
- Journals circulation service
- Media checks.
